   Dean of INSEAD
Brief Bio:

Ilian Mihov is Dean and The Novartis Chair of Management and Environment at INSEAD. He is a leading economist, an authority on macroeconomic questions, especially regarding monetary policy, fiscal policy, and economic growth.

Professor Mihov is Fellow at the Center for Economic Policy Research, has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the Banque de France's Research Foundation, the Advisory Board of the Bulgarian National Bank, and the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council.

He is a native of Bulgaria, who was educated in the United States, at the University of South Carolina's Moore School of Business that in 2006 recognized him as a Distinguished Young Alumnus, obtaining his Ph. D degree in Economics at Princeton University, under the guidance of current Federal Reserve Bank Chairman, Ben Bernanke, with whom he collaborated on several influential articles. Professor Mihov currently resides in Singapore.

Professor Mihov's papers have appeared in many academic journals including the American Economic Review and the Quarterly Journal of Economics. He has given interviews for BBC, CNBC Asia, Agence France Presse, Dow Jones Newswire and many other newspapers and magazines. Professor Mihov is a regular keynote speaker, lecturer and panellist at events organized by the PwC, WEF, KPMG, Hewlett-Packard, Bloomberg, Swiss Re, Alstom, Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas and other companies.

  Member of the Executive Board, Bertelsmann Stiftung
Brief Bio:

Born in 1968, Jorg Drager studied physics and business administration at the University of Hamburg before transferring to Cornell University in New York State, where he received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in theoretical physics. During his time in Cornell (1991-1996), he served as an academic assistant while completing his studies and doctoral thesis.

He began his professional career 1996 at the management consulting firm Roland Berger in Frankfurt/Main. In 1998, he returned to Hamburg to become executive director of the newly founded Northern Institute of Technology, a private institute of higher education that focuses on international MBA programs. From 2001 to 2008, he served as Hamburg's (politically independent) minister of science and research and was a member of Germany's Permanent Conference of Educational Ministers as well as deputy representative to the Bundesrat, the federal body that represents the German states at the national level. From 2004 to 2006, he also held the office of minister of health and consumer protection in Hamburg.

Since July 1, 2008, he has been a member of the Bertelsmann Stiftung Executive Board where he is responsible for the program areas of education, integration and democracy. He also serves as Executive Director of the CHE Centre for Higher Education. In January 2012, Drager has also been appointed Adjunct Professor for Public Management at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin.

Brief Bio:

Sandeep's passion for investing in innovative companies is driven by his belief in the ability of entrepreneurs transforming the way in which societies and nations live, learn and grow. His believe is that young and growth-oriented companies often are best positioned to find creative yet simple solutions to problems as such companies do not have the burden of legacy.

One of his professional commitments is to promote and improve the overall education environment, by investing in companies that have a progressive impact on the economic growth of people and industry. He founded Kaizen Private Equity in 2010, which is India’s first and only education focused private equity fund. Currently he serves as the Managing Director of the fund and he has been instrumental in building the firm's knowledge and client network across India, U.S and Asia. He believes in forming trusted partnerships with companies and their management teams on a shared commitment to excellence and growth.

Sandeep has been a part of the venture capital and private equity industry over two decades and has been credited with numerous successful transactions.

He has a MBA from the Graduate School of Business of Stanford University.

 

Jerry MacArthur Hultin

 

  Senior Presidential Fellow, New York University
Brief Bio:

Jerry Hultin strives to promote the innovative use of technology for a better world, especially to increase jobs and economic growth, and educate young people progressively. Currently, he serves as a Senior Presidential Fellow at New York University, the largest private university in the United States with portal campuses in New York City, Abu Dhabi and Shanghai. At NYU, Jerry helps design global and local programs for innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship and economic growth. Jerry mentors students and leaders throughout the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Previously, Jerry was president of the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, where he led Polytechnic in substantial growth, including a 60% increase in enrollment; its merger with NYU; a rise in graduate engineering program rankings; an expansion of graduate online education; award-winning K-12 STEM programs; and an increased presence in China, India, and the Middle East. NYU-Poly’s new business incubators are ranked top-20 world-wide and have generated over $250 million in economic activity.

During William Clinton's presidency, Jerry served as Under Secretary of the Navy. He helped manage the Navy's $100+ billion budget and led its "revolution in business affairs," helping design and procure the Navy Marine Corps Corporate Intranet, which improved IT performance and reduced costs by 33%, saving $1 billion annually. 

Earlier in his life, Jerry practiced law, managed small businesses, and consulted in technology, defense, health care, finance, and environment sectors.

Jerry is a graduate of Ohio State University and Yale Law School, and a naval officer with Vietnam service.
